Ancient Cities
Turkey is home to numerous ancient cities that showcase the country’s rich history and culture. One of the most famous ancient cities is Ephesus, located in the Aegean region. Ephesus is home to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the Library of Celsus, a magnificent structure that once held more than 12,000 scrolls.
Another notable ancient city is Hierapolis, located in the Denizli province. Hierapolis is famous for its hot springs, which are still used for therapeutic purposes today. The city also boasts the well-preserved ancient theatre, which once hosted thousands of spectators. Other notable ancient cities in Turkey include Troy, Perge, and Aspendos, each with their own unique history and architectural features that offer visitors a glimpse into Turkey’s ancient past.
